Our Mission

FreshGreens Market is the formulation of two sisters from Montgomery, Alabama, honoring their legacy of intergenerational community building and land stewardship, and being inspired by the power of health, wellness, and food. Erica and Erin Washington are the co-founders of the organic urban farm and market in Montgomery, Alabama, FreshGreens Market. They are grateful to honor the legacy of their great grandfather who opened a grocery store in the exact same spot in the early 1940s, and that was also managed by their grandmother. The area has been one of regeneration and love and fruit for generations.

Erin Michelle Washington is a Creative, Scholar, and Waymaker at the intersections of art + technology and afro-futurism from Montgomery, AL. She founded an arts collective, SoulCenter, which is a content development space centering blk creatives 18-35. Erica Washington is a farmer, herbalist, and real estate and community developer. Erica left corporate America nearly a decade ago due to a health crisis. It was in her quest to heal her body that another career was created. The sisters are collaborating for the first time with the co-creation of a legacy-based organization known as Clarke Street Fund and FreshGreens Market, which centers art, food sovereignty, economic empowerment, and tech on the Westside of Montgomery, Alabama.
